Japanese Neon Lamp Fights

You have to hand it to the Japanese, they know violence sells and they market it like no other country can.But this has to be the dumbest sport in history, two fat guys pounding each other with neon-rods until they’re both soaked in blood?

I have no idea what this sport is called or who came up with the idea, but apparently it’s very popular in the Land of the Rising Sun, despite it’s obvious stupidity. I’d rather watch some K1 or UFC any day, this is just like wrestling only with real blood.

    They’re not neon (those are clear) they’re fluorescent lights.

    They have mercury vapor in them that can be absorbed though lungs and skin.

    Although the powder is toxic, nobody yet has actually died from one of these matches, despite their rampant popularity in the indie-pro-wrestling scene in America, and Japan. They’re simply called “deathmatches” or “ultraviolent” matches. They’re essentially their own subdivision of pro-wrestling.

    Neon lights don’t need to be clear but yea, these do look a lot like fluorescent lights. either way that as fucking badass right there.

    You’d think that the pain from hundreds, if not thousands, of small cuts and glass splinters would stop them after only a few minutes. And as someone else mentioned, I would think that it would take no time at all for someone to get glass in the eye.

    Its a type of professional wrestling, and the blood IS real. I think people just need to start minding their own damn business and leave the people who do it and the people entertained by it alone. The people who do this sacrifice themselves for the entertainment of fans, no matter how barbaric it may be.

    I must disagree with you though Timo, anyone who decides that a fun pass time is beating each other with broken glass is not a smart person, but hey they’re doing it to themselves so its not really any of our buissness, if they want to bleed to death.
